Stampin' Up! European Convention 2013 & other news

Long time since I’ve blogged so I thought I’d give an update on whats been happening in the world of Stampin’ Up!

I’ve recently come back from attending the European Stampin’ Up! convention in Manchester. These are demonstrator only events; where we get time to reflect on the past year, celebrate our high achievers, sneak peeks and the chance to come home with lots of free Stampin’ Up products.

Being in the team Stampin’ Stars we had lots of us at convention and you can see below our team photo…

My up-line Julie Halls gave me this lovely bag charm made using the simply pressed clay.

And Natalie O’Shea gave all of us in the Stampin’ Stars a badge plus a little treat.

I had lots of fun and gained a lovely convention bag and this ended up full of all the great things that were given in the all attendee giveaways plus the make and take packs. A few lucky demonstrators also won goodies in the prize patrols.

As well, convention is also an opportunity for us demonstrators to share ideas and innovative techniques. We do this by creating swaps - this year I made 20 swaps and received 20+ back; with one of my swaps being handed in to be displayed at future events.

Here are two of my favourites that I received; I will upload more in a separate post over the weekend.

Made using the Envelope Punch Board and Season of Style DSP… love love love!

Another favourite that I recieved…

It was a jam packed weekend and we learned of some great products coming out in the weeks to come… but I cant tell you all of it yet so please check back within the next week for an announcement…

Stampin' Up! Creative Tour Wokingham

So on the 25th I attended the Reading/Wokingham creative tour with some fellow demonstrators. The event was arranged by Stampin' Up! to give us some updates, sneak peeks and a little creative time ahead of the Convention in November up in Manchester.

Plus, we got to do some Make & Takes - that Stampin' Up had created plus they gave us all a free Stamp Set from the Autumn/Winter Catalogue called Love & Joy.

We got given two make and take packs but i've only made the Washi Tape Note Cards so far - I just really love these and I made them up at home today. There made using one of the new Stampin' Trimmer attachments in the Annual Catalogue which makes a zigzag edge to the white penants/flags.

Thats all for now but if you would like to place an order for any of the items used in these or would like to know whats been used - just get in touch.

Happy Stampin'!

2nd July Blog Hop

Hi everyone.

Today the Stampin' Stars are doing a New Catalogue Launch blog hop!

We're showcasing some of the new products that us lucky demonstrators were able to pre-order :)

Some of you may have popped over from 2biggirlscrafting.blogspot.co.uk and seen their lovely creations.

So here is what i've come up with...

I decided to use the Meadowflower Stamp set and its matching Embossing folder; along with some of the new In-Colours for ink and cardstock. I also used a carrying over Oh, Hello stamp set for the sentiment, as silly me forgot to put any sentiment stamps on her pre-order.

Colours used: Strawberry Slush, Pistachio Pudding and Coastal Cabana

The Meadowflower Stamp Set and Embossing folder co-ordinates well with the new Gingham Garden DSP and Washi Tape. Which I love and will be showcasing soon in a future post.

Upcycling a jotterpad

Hi everyone,
Can't believe its nearly then end of May already! So I spent my Bank Holiday Monday 27th; doing some upcycling. Kind of like recycling to make it more pretty :)

I have some old jotter pads laying around on my craft room shelves so decided to give them a bit of a Stampin' Up makeover. As you will see below:

It was quite simple to do and I'm not an expert at all when it comes to these sort of projects.

I embellished the project with a Pin Wheel; but it would also look great with a flower made using 3 cut outs of card stock from the Fancy Flower Punch (118073) and sprayed with a Stampin' Spritzer (126185) then scrunch them up and shape them into a flower and allow to dry. You can then fix them together using Mini Glue Dots (103683) then embellish the middle of the flower using a designer brad or designer buttons.

                            For example >>>

Products used:
Card Stock-
Whisper White (106550)
Crumb Cake (121685)
Calypso Coral (124392)
Island Indigo (124390)
Lucky Limeade (124388)
Designer Series Paper-
Tea for Two (129311)
Classic Stampin Pad-
Early Espresso (126974)
Embelisments-
Mini brads Silver (122941)
Big Shot-
Pinwheel Sizzlits S Die (129411)
Adhesives-
Multipurpose Liquid Glue (110755)
Stampin' Dimensionals (104430)
Stamps-
Chevron Oval Stamp from Oh' Hello Set (130730)
'WOW your the best' from Friendly Phrases Set (126151)
Accessories-
Stampin' Trimmer
Simply Scored
Paper Snips
Acyrlic Block
Grid Paper
Plain/Cheap Jotter-Pad

If you fancy trying out this project:

I would suggest before cutting or scoring measure your Jotter-pad or notepad. I used the grid paper for this so that I would have it visually set out in front of me. As a rough guide whatever you measure out allow an extra 3 centimetres. For example it measured:

Length: 21cm (+3cm spine allowance)
Width: 7.4cm
Depth of the spin: 0.5cm

Also if your jotter pad originally came with a flimsy cover use your scissors to cut it off and just leave the black strip that attached the cover on.

Your base card stock that makes your cover needs to be scored to allow it to bend over the spine; I used the scoring board but you could use a bone folder tool.

If you would like further details on how to make this project then please leave a comment below or email me at tashahrt@me.com

Online Store

Some of you may have heard we now have an online store (yippee) so that when you really need that stamp set or collection of dies and don't want to wait for your demonstrator to process it.

Well you can now put the order through the online store and select your demo.

It went live on 21st May - unfortunately due to technical issues they have had to temporarily suspend this function until they can sort out the issues. If you have any urgent orders then please send me an email marked urgent and I can process your order for you straight away. I will then phone to process your payment or send you a PayPal invoice before I submit it.

Inspiration and Projects

Late night 'brain storming' tonight.
Taking inspiration from other demonstrators in the Stampin' Stars such as Natalie and Tracie - I'm embarking on a new project to brighten up my desk stationary mainly my plain boring notebooks.

Paper crafts are so versatile from making cards to gift boxes. Check back over the next few weeks and I will be demonstrating the use of the Stampin' Trimmer and the Simply Scored and their use for 3D projects.

First card!

Well today I madly volunteered to make a leaving card for a boy that is doing work experience in the office and is leaving on Friday.

This is the result, tried to not make it too feminine but I know it won't be his cup of tea as he's into all that rock punk sort of thing but oh well.

I used:
Whisper white card stock
Oh, Hello stamp set
Oval framelits die (3rd smallest size)
Honeycomb embossing folder
Time for tea designer paper
In colour ink and paper 2011-13
SNAIL adhesive

I will be doing a few of these as swaps at the Telford Regionals 2013 :)

Comments and feedback appreciated.

Hello World!

Welcome to my blog - Hearts.you Crafts!

I've always been quite crafty since I was a child; but in recent years since completing school and college I had lost touch with my creative side but that was until a few months ago. When I had a very expensive visit to Hobbycraft and I re-found my love for all things craft.

I've done a few things since mainly patchwork quilting little heart cushions (pictures to follow), mosaic, sewing and now I'm also venturing into the world of papercraft.

Currently, I'm debating whether to set my self up as a Stampin' Up Demonstrator, as I really love their products and there is no one in my local area that supplies them via the catalogue.

Over the lifetime of this blog, I will be sharing with you all my crafty creations - so check back soon and follow my blog if you'd like to see more.

xoxo
